Staying Safe in the Sun

Summer is here at last!

Last weekend was a scorcher here in the UK and well, we could not be happier about it! The BBQs and picnics were out in force. Brighton beach was rammed. We all enjoyed the sunshine weekend.

But basking in the sun can be extremely dangerous for your health.

That’s no surprise to most of us. We all know that UV rays damage skin cells which then run the risk of becoming cancerous. It would be very wise indeed to stay indoors and out of the sun as the rays become stronger coming into summer.

Dealing With Anxiety

This week is Mental Health Awareness week. This year the focus is on ANXIETY, something that affects all of us from time to time.

We all get those feelings of stress in our everyday lives. Exam stress, the anxiety felt before an important meeting or interview, or even the fear of the unknown. Whatever it may be, anxiety affects us all in various degrees.

For some people, dealing with anxiety can be overwhelming. Anxiety can manifest itself as feelings of nervousness, sweaty palms, a lack of concentration and feeling worried. At its most severe, anxiety can result in panic attacks and feeling completely out of control.

Back Pain Remedies: The Alternative to Pills

For most people back pain is not necessarily serious and will disappear after a short while. What makes it such a pressing issue is the amount of people it affects. It is the biggest cause of absence from work in the UK.

NHS statistics state that chronic back pain costs the NHS £1.3 million every day.

The onset of back pain can vary from person to person.

Causes of back pain include physical work, things like frequent bending, sudden movements, lifting something particularly heavy, being static for a long period of time.

Often psychological factors such as stress and anxiety can have an impact on back pain.

Pain related to the back can extend to other parts of the body. Sometimes pain in the lower back pain can be felt all the way down the back or side of your leg. Upper or middle back pain can cause a burning sensation or sharp pain and you may feel muscles are tense. Neck pain and stiffness can be coupled with headaches when suffering from whiplash.
